NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGY
How has digital technology impacted on the audience’s experience?
In terms of cinematography, digital technology has made it more interesting for the audience to watch. Special effects such as 3D effects have helped keep the audience more into the film. HD Quality is now clearer to watch. There has also been a lot of development in terms of sound effects and sound in general. It has now become more developed therefore it can be heard well. This helps to make it more attractive and also helps to add verisimilitude to the purpose of the film. It can help keep the audience wanting to watch more.
How was proliferation helped to lower film budgets?
This can help the audience to be able to create the film themselves based on their ideas and thoughts of other films. This is also cheaper and easier because of the use of digital technology and its recent discoveries and developments. 20 years ago, film making in this way would have been a lot more difficult as the equipment would not have been quiet as developed as it is today. People can also use their skills to create sweeded films now a day. This shows us that cinematography making has been made easier.
Film production while film is still in production?
We can now view before views or shots of the film. This is a shot of a specific scene or scenes of the film before the film has been released in cinema or shown anywhere else. An example of this would be a trailer of a film or a teaser trailer. Promoting is a way of showing a film before it is released. There can be online discussions based on the film, forums and/or blogs online to share views and ideas on the films. These are ways that the audience can participate in the film discussions that take place and can share many ideas on the film.
Negative?
Its not quiet as challenging therefore it will not be as fun. Storyline can easily get lost without a chronological order of filming. Technology does everything for the directors, editors, etc therefore they don’t do anything for themselves. Too many fantasy making can make the film very unverisimilitude. It takes away the novelty of the effects, the tradition of film making and too many amateurs are coming along and making rubbish films assuming that technology can just make their film look/sound good.
Cinematography and sound are two things within the New media technology which have been developed and improved through time and era in order to keep the audience more interested in the film or the television programme.
Cinematography: is the making of a film using the lighting, camera works, editing processes, mis en scene and many more things in order to make the film interesting. The edits of cinematography can also help to develop ideas on how to reach the target audience and the aspects which will help to reach the target audience. As time went on, better technology was made and discovered to improve this idea of cinematography. Better lighting methods were found and used to attract the target audience. More costume and make up was made and designed to add more colour to the scene of the film/on the screen.
Sound: is the noise that the audience can hear. In olden day movies, there was no sound and films were silent. These were known as ‘Silent Movies.’ As time developed, the technology of sound improved and now we have many different sounds. Sound can help the audience to understand what is going on in the movie. It can facilitate the story of film to string together and link one another. The idea of having sound in a film can make the film more attractive and interesting. With sound in the picture, the film can begin to make more sense as the audience view it. Unlike modern days, they never used to have sound in a film which made the film more difficult for the audience to try and understand what was going on in the movie. They had to use only picture to understand and develop an idea of what was going on. With modern technology, we can use many different types of sound to make clear what is going on. Each picture or scene comes with some form of sound. For example: A car crashing will come with the sound of effect of a crash of some sort. This can help the audience to understand the picture. It can also add a better effect to the movie. With sound effects, the audience can get more drawn into the movie as they would understand it better.
In conclusion, both sound and cinematography have developed in many styles and ways to help attract the target audience and give a clearer image/sound effect of what is going on in the movie.
