24 Hour Party & a Hollywood Film

24 Hour party people is a film set in manchester 1979-1992, about a Tony wilson and how his music band which he put together changed the culture of music forever.

The hollywood film that i have chosen is The Princess' Diares. This is about a 15year old girl who is a nerd in her school, finds out that her late father was the prince of Genouvia making her the new princess. This changed her whole life and helped her find who she really is.

Both movies are similar in the sense that both of the main characters have achieved or made something of themselves which changed who they are and how they live for the rest of their lives. It also changed a lot things within History as in 24 hour party people, music changed life for good and in The Princess' Diaries, the power of royallity changed how Genouvia was ruled and overpowered.

In between both the films, There was many uses of different types of synergy. In 24 hour party, there was the use of music or musical synergy as there was in The Princess' Diaries. Both of the films used this type of syngery. For example: The main track in 24 hour party people, the title track, was a soft rock song from the 60's. In luck for the director the song was called 24 hour party as well as the film being called 24 hour party people. The Princess Diaries used a large variety of musical syngery because it was a hollywood film therefore they had a bigger budget to spend on the different types of synergy they could use. The used songs from artists such as Jesse McCartney, Myra, Mandy Moore who are more well known and appeal to the target audience of both the film and the music.

The use of new media technology effected both films in very different ways to each other. In 24 hour party people, the use of new media technology made the film more exciting. It added colour, light and life to how the film was viewed by the audience (in this case, myself) however in my opinion, the film did not appeal well to me because I was not the target audience therefore I didn't feel that the film was well appealed to a wide audience.

In difference to this, The Princess' Diaries, appealed to me. This was because the media technology used was based on the target audience, myself, therefore it appealed to me. The use of effects such as popular or well known music appealed well to me. The use of special effects and the styles and techniques of the editing reached out to me because it was more something that someone of my age would enjoy watching, however, 24 hour party was edited in a way that it would reach the right target audience which was an older target audience.

In conclusion, the use of synergy, cross media convergence, new media technology, etc made both of the films more interesting however they were both very diferent to each other. This is mainly based on the target audience who they were aimed at.
